Scottish Botanical Amulet - Nettle Spirit with Dragon's Blood Jasper & Kambaba Jasper

Part of the Scottish Botanical Amulet collection, this one-of-a-kind piece was created using a real dead nettle leaf gathered in Scotland. Through the process of copper electroforming, layer upon layer of copper was permanently deposited onto the leaf itself, capturing its delicate structure, intricate veins, and natural contours in lasting metal. Every detail of the original leaf remains beautifully visible, transforming this gift of the wild Scottish woodland into a unique keepsake. Handcrafted in my small studio in rural Scotland, each amulet carries a connection to the landscape from which its story began.

The leaves shown alongside the amulet in the photographs are from the same species of dead nettle used in its creation, offering a glimpse of the living plant whose delicate structure was captured in copper.

Dragon's Blood Jasper and Kambaba Jasper beads adorn the adjustable beaded cord, their deep greens and earthy tones reflecting the colours of ancient forests, moss-covered stones, and the untamed beauty of the natural world. Suspended from an adjustable beaded cord, this amulet may be worn close to the neck or lowered to rest near the heart, adapting to the wearer's preference.

Symbolism of the Design

There are plants that demand attention, and there are those that quietly endure.

Dead nettle belongs to the latter. Growing beneath hedgerows and along woodland paths, it flourishes without recognition, returning season after season with a quiet resilience that often goes unnoticed. It survives changing weather, shifting seasons, and the constant rhythm of the wild landscape around it.

Captured in copper, this once-living leaf becomes a symbol of endurance and inner strength. It reminds us that resilience is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is found in simply continuing to grow, adapting to change, and remaining true to our nature no matter what surrounds us.

Like the woodland itself, the dead nettle teaches that strength can be both gentle and enduring.

Spiritual & Symbolic Associations

Associated With:

  • Courage
  • Resilience
  • Vitality
  • Grounding
  • Woodland Wisdom
  • Connection to Nature

Dragon's Blood Jasper has long been associated with courage, determination, and the strength to move forward through life's challenges. Its rich green and deep red colours evoke images of ancient forests nourished by the earth beneath them, carrying a sense of vitality and perseverance.

Kambaba Jasper brings a different energy to the story. With its swirling patterns and deep green tones, it is often connected with tranquillity, stability, and an ancient connection to the natural world. Its appearance is reminiscent of moss-covered stones resting quietly beneath towering trees, unchanged by the passing seasons.

Together, the leaf and stones tell a story of wild resilience. Not the resilience of struggle alone, but of remaining rooted while continuing to grow. They remind us that true strength often comes from balance: courage paired with patience, action paired with stillness, and determination paired with trust.

When creating this piece, I wanted it to carry the atmosphere of an ancient woodland, where towering trees shelter the forest floor and every stone, root, and leaf seems to hold the memory of countless seasons. It serves as a reminder that strength can be found in both movement and stillness, and that even the smallest living things possess a remarkable capacity to endure.

Chakra Association

Dragon's Blood Jasper is often associated with the Heart Chakra and Root Chakra, while Kambaba Jasper is commonly linked with the Root Chakra, symbolically associated with grounding, resilience, courage, and connection to nature.
