Geological Information
Mookaite is a variety of Jasper found exclusively in Western Australia, near Mooka Creek, from which it takes its name. It is composed primarily of silicified radiolarite, formed from the fossilised remains of microscopic marine organisms that lived millions of years ago.
The stone's distinctive colours are created by various mineral inclusions, particularly iron compounds, resulting in the beautiful palette of reds, yellows, creams, burgundy tones, and earthy hues that make Mookaite so recognisable.
