Geological Information

Marcasite is an iron sulphide mineral closely related to Pyrite and is known for forming intricate radiating, nodular, and branching structures. These formations create the striking metallic patterns visible across the surface of this specimen.

The botryoidal Chalcedony cavity formed when silica-rich solutions slowly deposited microscopic Quartz crystals within natural voids in the host rock. Over time, these layers built up into the rounded formations known as botryoidal Chalcedony, named after the Greek word for a bunch of grapes.

The result is an exceptional combination of contrasting textures and mineral growth habits that make each specimen entirely unique.

  • Primary Minerals: Marcasite and Chalcedony
