Geological Information

Charoite is a rare silicate mineral known for its distinctive purple colouring and fibrous, swirling patterns. It was first identified in the 1970s and is found almost exclusively in the Sakha Republic of Siberia, Russia, near the Chara River from which it takes its name.

The mineral's beautiful appearance is created by its complex fibrous crystal structure, which produces the characteristic flowing patterns and occasional silky lustre. Charoite often occurs alongside minerals such as Aegirine, Microcline, and Tinaksite.

Due to its limited locality and unique appearance, Charoite remains one of the most sought-after decorative and lapidary stones among collectors and crystal enthusiasts.
